Convulxin, from Crotalus durissus terrificus venom, is a protein which activates blood platelets via binding and clustering of GPVI-receptors under physiological conditions. Can be used for studies of platelet receptors by light transmission aggregometry (LTA).

It can be used for studies of platelet receptors by light transmission aggregometry (LTA). Prostaglandins are known as strong inhibitors of convulxin-induced platelet aggregation.
  • Convulxin: Reconstitute the vial of Convulxin with HEPES buffered saline (pH 6.5) and dilute to the desired concentration (0,1 μg/mL) with the same buffer.
  • Storage after reconstitution: Room temperature 8 hours +2 to +8°C 2 days.
  • The reconstituted product can be frozen immediately and stored at -80°C for 1 month. Avoid refreezing.
  • Collagen: Aggregation with collagen at 0.5 µg/ml is used as a positive control.
